Have you ever wondered what some of the most watched videos on YouTube are?

Not surprisingly, a good chunk of them are music videos. As of January 2025, "Baby Shark" and "Despacito" take the No. 1 (15 billion views) and No. 2 (8 billion views), respectively, according to Brandwatch. Take that for what you will.

But what about the most watched "Maine" video?

What is the most watched Maine video on YouTube?

Doing a quick YouTube search using the "views" filter (and ignoring the videos that have "Maine" in the title but have nothing to do with the Pine Tree State), one video in particular seems to take one of the top spots, if not the top spot, as the most watched video at a staggering 115 million views.

That would be a YouTube short from Maine lobsterman Jacob Knowles about the lobster crusher vs. pincher claw.

You can view the video here or below:

Uploaded in November 2022, this 55-second video shows off the power and strength of a lobster's crusher claw as it grips onto a Gatorade bottle and won't let go.

In the video, Knowles says, "If that was your hand, you'd be screeching right now. Do nothing but cry and wait for him to let go. There ain't much you can do."

How Strong Is a Lobster's Crushing Claw?

According to Maine.gov, lobsters have a large crusher claw to help them "destroy something he wants to eat."

Knowles notes in the video that while the crusher claw is slow, it can crush things like bones and shells.

Maine.gov says lobsters also have a pincher or ripper claw that helps tear food apart.

Knowles points out in the YouTube short that this claw is faster and can rip meat and skin but doesn't have as much power as the crusher.

As for how strong that crusher claw is? Time Magazine revealed that it "can exert pressure of up to 100 pounds per square inch."

Don't get grabbed!

Have you had a chance to watch this video yet? It's incredible to think that it has as many millions of views that it does.

In fact, Knowles has a number of other top-performing videos about lobsters you might find interesting from catching a rare 1-in-30-million lobster (over 900,000 views) to catching a massive 100-year-old lobster (about 600,000 views).

Maybe he just needs to create a catchy kids "Baby Lobster" video to compete for the top spot on YouTube...
