It might be hard to believe that Arcadia in Portland, Maine, opened more than a decade ago.

Their original Preble Street location in the city was a pseudo-dive that laid a solid foundation for regular customers. But when they moved into the former Port City Music Hall in 2022, Arcadia graduated to the next level.

Arcadia is one of the most popular places in the city to mingle and play with two floors of classic and modern video games, skeeball and more.

But as any good bar will tell you, your neighbors can be just as important as what you do to draw people in. Which is why Arcadia has decided to become their own neighbor.

Bad Neighbors Will Open Across the Street From Arcadia in Portland, Maine

After more than two decades in business, Soakology at 511 Congress Street closed their physical location in April of this year.

That gave Arcadia an idea. Rather than wait and see if something that may play well off of an arcade bar experience moves in, why not just take over the space and expand the empire.

According to Portland Food Map, that's exactly what will happen. Arcadia has leased the old Soakology space with plans to open a restaurant and bar called Bad Neighbors.

Bad Neighbors Will Be a Radio-Inspired Place to Hang Out and Chill

Bad Neighbors is set to be themed around music and the listening experience. According to Portland Food Map, there will be an intense focus on the audio experience at Bad Neighbors that will be inspired by independent radio stations.

Bad Neighbors will feature cozy, custom booths, a signature bar and a pool table in the back of the room as well. Bad Neighbors will also have a curated food and beverage menu as well.

Bad Neighbors is hoping for a grand opening sometimes in the spring of 2026.
