Newburyport, Massachusetts

Newburyport, Massachusetts, has lots to offer, to be sure.  The city has shops, art, culture, great seafood, and excellent restaurants.  But this tea lounge is something out of Alice in Wonderland.  It is so lovely that LoveFood has ranked it one of the most beautiful in the country.

Ladyfingers Tea Lounge at the Garrison Inn in Newburyport, Massachusetts, will make any photo just about picture-perfect.  Don't be surprised if the Cheshire Cat suddenly appears in the middle of tea.

Ladyfingers Tea Lounge is part of the Garrison Inn, a historic building in Newburyport, located at 11 Brown Square, right around the corner from Mission Oak Grille.  From the outside, it looks like many buildings here in New England that are rich in history.  But truly, it ain't nothing compared to what's inside.

You can't just walk into the Tea Room.  What are you thinking?  They have to prepare for your arrival.  Afternoon tea is on Saturday and Sunday by reservation only.  Seating is at 12pm, and the cost is $100 per person.  There is a four-person limit, and you have to be 21 years of age or older, as there are alcoholic beverages served (they had me at "Open Champagne Bar").

Afternoon tea does sell out, given the limited hours that it's open.  So if you would like to go (and who wouldn't?), click here for more information on reservations.

If you would like a more private setting, you can book the Tea Room for two hours at a time.  $150 per hour (two-hour minimum) will get you access to the pink room and the white room.

For an additional $50, you can have access to the pantry, which includes bone china tea cups, antique porcelain dining plates, sterling tea pots, silverware, glassware, and everything else needed to create the tablescape of your dreams.

This place sounds like a fantasy that I want to be a part of.  I can't believe I didn't know it existed!  Have you ever been?
