When we are creating a life for ourselves, sometimes the location of where we do that has to do with where our families are.  For example, New Hampshire is my home because my family has been here for generations.  Maybe the same for you.  But does that mean that we want to retire here?  Maybe yes!  If so, you are in luck.

If you have decided that New Hampshire is the place for you when you retire, now you have another decision to make.  What part of New Hampshire?

Niche.com decided what county in New Hampshire would be the best to retire in based on several factors like the cost of living, health care access, recreation and weather.

Being a native of the 603, I am partial to one particular county and of course, I thought it was going to land at the Number one spot, but nope.  I was actually surprised at the top pick.

Rockingham County, NH is the Locals Favorite Pick to Retire

If they asked me, I would have chosen Rockingham County. It's currently where I live, which helps.  Rockingham County has ocean, lakes and trails with beautiful waterfalls.  Boston isn't very far away, so you still have access to the best medical care literally in the entire world.  The cost of living is high so maybe that's what kept it out of the top spot.

The Mount Washington Hotel in NH is Breathtaking

Coos County would have been my second choice.  Coos County is home of the Mount Washington Hotel, one of the most beautiful properties in the world.  There is a ski resort in Bretton Woods as well.  Not that I ski, I don't.  But I like the vibe of a ski community.  Cute clothes, fire places, etc.

Anyway, check out this list and see if you agree with the top spot.
