Slow Down, Bub! New Hampshire State Police Are Cracking Down on Speeders
The New Hampshire Speed Limit is Not a Suggestion
Recently, public officials and New Hampshire police officers have convened to launch a new, strict policy on speeders in the state. They are citing the number of crashes, up 10% from last year, according to WMUR, and that New Hampshire is one of the highest in the nation for deadly crashes and alcohol impairment.
New Hampshire is going into this new initiative with 22 other states, the news station reported. Since January, NH State Police have stopped 700 drivers going at least 90 MPH and 71 going over 100 MPH.
WMUR reported that this program is funded by taxpayer dollars, so, if you do get a ticket because of increased police presence, you'll be shelling out even more cash.
Speeding is Unnecessary
A few years ago, I got a new car. It was the first "sports car" we ever bought. When I brought it into the radio station, a co-worker of mine who LOVES cars, wanted to take it for a test drive. I threw him the keys and off we went. It was broad daylight, and he was behind the wheel.
If you've never been to the radio station, it's in a residential neighborhood. It seems like there's a new house being built every other day. He squealed out of the driveway of the station and went screaming down the road. I begged him to slow down, but he wouldn't. He just laughed and turned into someone I didn't even recognize. I was really afraid, not of getting hurt myself, but we both knew the road that we were driving on. It was always filled with joggers, people walking their dogs, bicycle riders, etc.
I was literally praying he didn't hit anyone. Luckily, we got back to the station and no one was hurt. Imagine if he hit someone! (Thank you, Dear Sweet Baby Jesus.)
If you can't think of yourself, think of someone else you could hurt. That one stupid decision could change your whole life.
