This Massachusetts Grocery Store is Ranked ‘Best-in-State’ Employer 2024
Trader Joe's is the Best Grocery Store Employer
I hate to say it, because I really do love Market Basket, but I gotta give it up for Trader Joe's who has been ranked "Best-in-State Employer," in Massachusetts, according to Statista.
Statistica ranked the finding in part by a Direct Score, meaning "respondents indicate how likely they would be to recommend their own employer to friends or family." Pretty big honor for the employer to have their own employees by part of the overall good score.
Trader Joe's, according to tastingtable.com, also has a lot of great benefits for their employees, including a good hourly wage that can increase twice a year if the employee does well with their performance review. Paid time off is also a benefit based on how long you have worked there. I don't think that is common with retail.
Trader Joe employees can contribute to a 401K retirement account, receive a 20% discount on all products and sign up for health benefits.
Massachusetts has several Trader Joe's locations. I counted approximately 20 in the Boston area. There are only three in New Hampshire, in Portsmouth, Bedford and Nashua.
Admittedly, it took me a minute to get used to Trader Joe's. I was used to having a wide selection of products at my disposal, for instance, tomato sauce. At Trader Joe's, there is one, maybe two kinds to choose from and that's it. I liked the fact that I didn't have to waste time making a decision on which one to buy.
Trader Joe's also has a fabulous wine section at really great prices.
But it was when I got to the check out, I was totally hooked. The prices are WAY cheaper that other grocery stores and the employees get a 20% discount on top of that? Wow.
