The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic changed our world forever.

I do not want to be insensitive to the healthcare workers, whose lives were directly impacted for the worse; however, SOME positives came out of the dark time.

More cities and towns have outdoor dining. A lot of people are working from home/ now have a flexible work schedule. And a lot of people started finding more hobbies.

One thing that changed during the pandemic that might need to go back is the lack of menus at restaurants.

During the pandemic, to minimize the passing of germs, restaurants did away with actual menus and started offering a QR code to those dining in. Well, even though the pandemic is long gone, a lot of restaurants are still making QR code menus.

Do we like that or hate it?

Over the weekend, I was out to eat at a small and intimate restaurant in Newburyport, MA. As I looked around at my family, who were all looking at the "menu," I realized that everyone was just looking at their phone.

I hated it.

I love leaving my phone in the car - or at least my pocket - when I am out to dinner with friends or family.

BUT BUT BUT - there are some pros when it comes to the QR menu:

Less waste - no tossing out paper with daily specials. Fewer menus on the table - knocking over drinks/getting in the way. You always have the menu, so you don't have to ask the waiter to bring over the drink menu for a second time...

But then again, what if there is no service? And the font on your phone is small...

I think I would prefer a real menu 99% of the time, what about you?
