The Best New Hampshire Campgrounds for Your Summer Getaway
When it comes to camping in New Hampshire, or anywhere in New England, really, booking can be stressful.
There are hundreds of amazing camping spots all over New Hampshire, ranging from private cabins, privately owned and operated land, to state and federally funded campgrounds.
Each campground and campsite has its pros/cons.
For example, if you are a first-time camper (minimal gear, experience, supplies), there are different campgrounds that I would recommend. Perhaps one that is more "busy," but offers a lot of support (like camp stores, fire starters, tube rentals, etc)

For more experienced campers, I may suggest a different route. A campground with minimal staff, little signage, and no "extras" like a campstore.
Often, those less lavish campgrounds are my favorite because they are typically quieter, with fewer people, and easier to navigate.
Best Places to Camp in New Hampshire:
When camping in the White Mountains, or anywhere really, my wife and I nearly always look at the USDA Forest Service campgrounds, followed by NH State Park run campgrounds.
These types of campgrounds have the bare minimum (which is what we go for). Each site comes with a reasonably sized plot of land, a decent amount of trees separating each site, a picnic table, and a fire ring.
Many of the NH State Park campgrounds will have campstores and extras; however, the majority of the USDA Forest Service campgrounds do not.
Check the campground's website for specific reservations and pricing; however, most USDA sites are $25 per night, which is super reasonable.
PLUS PLUS PLUS - for last-minute camping, many of the USDA Forest Service campgrounds hold sites for first-come come first-served campers.
