Yesterday at the Mariners, fans were urged to buy a new package of underwear and bring it to the game. When the first goal by the Mariners was scored, everyone tossed their package of underwear down on the ice. Fun, right? And it was all for a great cause, as all the underwear was scooped up and donated to Preble Street.
We really miss the Maine Mariners this season. But Mariners Head Coach & Assistant General Manager Riley Armstrong and Equipment Manager Jake Rogers are still around and putting their talents to use to help Maine restaurants get through the pandemic.
There's no Maine Mariners' Hockey this season, but that doesn't mean the Mariners are not going to have their annual Teddy Bear Toss! Usually, on Teddy Bear Toss night, when our guys score the first goal of the evening, the crowd shoers the ice with stuffed animals. Donations this year will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine and the South Portland Holiday Toy Drive. All stuffed animals must be new and with tags attached. It's such a fun thing and even though the Mariners are not playing this year, you can still toss them a bear this Saturday. Come on down to the Cross Insurance Arena between 9am and 12pm on Saturday.for a drive-through Teddy Bear Toss and holiday event!
The Maine Mariners shut down their season in March. Today, the ECHL Board of Governors, approved a schedule for the 2020-2021 season with an anticipated start date of December 4, 2020. Teams will play a full 72-game schedule.
It's a huge weekend for our Maine Mariners. They are home Friday, Saturday and Sunday and if you haven't been to the Cross Insurance Arena to see these guys play, then this is your chance. And the team is hot right now! The Sunday afternoon game really caught our attention. It's the "Underwear Toss." Wait, what?
You can meet this amazing phenom on Monday in Portland at the Maine Mariners game! I have not been more excited to see someone at the Cross Insurance Arena since the KISS/Aerosmith twin bill back in November of 2003.
