Tribute EP 'Dolenz Sings R.E.M.' comes out Nov. 3.

Last remaining member of the group is highlighting 1967's 'Headquarters' on current tour.

"It brought me to my knees, moved me back three feet," Nesmith told MTV in 1986.

“You could never, never have talked him out of the tour,” says Monkees bandmate Micky Dolenz.

He emerged from their pre-fab beginnings to become a musical pioneer in his own right.
