We got reports early this morning that some speed limit signs on I-295 from Portland to Gardiner had been changed from 65 to 70MPH. Later in the morning, Department of Transportation Commissioner David Bernhardt made it official.
Looks like as early as today that MDOT may raise the speed limit on 295 to 70mph. Probably starting north of Tukey's Bridge. Then the Maine Turnpike Authority would follow by raising speeds to 70mph from Kittery to Scarborough and from Westbrook to West Gardiner...
