37 years ago this week, Styx played a sold out show at the Civic Center in Portland. They were on tour in support of the mega-album, The Grand Illusion and this stop in Blimpville happened on August 18, 1978, just weeks before the release of Pieces of Eight in September.
The two bands sealed a bond when they previously toured together in 2007 and, as Tommy Shaw tells Ultimate Classic Rock during a rare interview, he can’t wait to do it again.
34 years ago this weekend, Styx brought their Paradise Theatre Tour to Portland! It was a sold out show at the Civic Center on April 19,1981. Paradise Theatre was the biggest hit ever for Styx going to number 1 and becoming their fourth consecutive multi-platinum album.
Last year they toured with Foreigner and Don Felder. In 2015 James Young and Tommy Shaw are keeping the Styx legacy strong and they'll be bringing the band back to Blimpville again this summer!
