New Canaan Police confirm that Paul Simon has been arrested for disorderly conduct after officers were called to the scene of an alleged “family dispute.”

The arrest apparently stems from a weekend incident at the Connecticut home of Simon and his wife, 48-year-old singer-songwriter Edie Brickell. NBC Connecticut reports that police originally told them Simon was arrested on “some sort of a domestic violence charge,” but now say the singer was charged with disorderly conduct, as was Brickell.

Police were called at about 8 p.m. on Saturday night, both other details were not immediately released. Representatives from both camps weren’t commenting, either. An arraignment was expected today in Norwalk Superior Court.

Update: According to Consequence of Sound, police at a press conference described the incident as a “very common domestic dispute,” at which they were “obligated to make an arrest.” There were reportedly minor injuries involved — to whom it was not specified — but nothing that required medical attention.

The 12-time Grammy-winning 72-year-old Simon has three children with Brickell, best known for her 1988 hit ‘What I Am’ with the New Bohemians. They have been married since 1992.
