Over the years here at WBLM, I've had the privilege of meeting a mighty sizable portion of my rock idols: Bob Weir, the guys in AC/DC, Jimmy Page to name a few. All friendly folks for sure. But the one guy who sticks out as being the most down to earth, is Steven Tyler. The first time I met him in the late '80s backstage at the Augusta Civic Center, he put his arm over my shoulders as we posed for the camera with Aerosmith and said, "Hey, you gotta radio voice."

At Great Woods in the summer of '93, he rubbed my wife Sherry's belly. She was pregnant with our first son, Sam. We saw Aerosmith again the following New Year's Eve and my wife Sherry showed Steven the picture of them reminding him that he rubbed her big baby belly. Steven responded with, "And that's all I rubbed." Steven Tyler is one of those celebrities who takes his time with fans and makes them feel like they are truly important to him.

He's still a wicked nice guy today too! Watch this video that a mom shot on a flight recently of Steven Tyler singing Happy Birthday to her 7-year-old daughter, Carly.
