It’s a very special celebration tonight on the WBLM Mini-Concert. We’ll remember the “quiet” Beatle, George Harrison, a humble and infinitely talented man. George passed away 15 years ago this week, on November 29, 2001.

31 years ago, John Cougar Mellencamp returned for his second show at the Civic Center and his first one here as a headliner.

It’s pretty safe to say that AC/DC is one of Blimpville’s most favorite live rock acts, selling out every time they’ve been to the Civic Center. 26 years ago, ‘The Thundah from Down Undah’ came back to Portland for their 6th sold-out night since their first concert at the CCCC in 1985.

November 11 is a huge day in Blimp history for legendary names at the Civic Center! Queen, Jimmy Page and Fleetwood Mac all came to rock Portland’s biggest indoor venue on Veteran’s Day over the years. We’ll celebrate with Mini-Concerts all this week!

36 years ago, the Audio-Visions tour came to Portland, Maine. The second appearance by Kansas at the Civic Center was also their second sold-out show there.

We’re celebrating a huge moment in New England rock history. This week marks the 46th Anniversary of Aerosmith making their live debut, at a high school. I love the fact that a band that went on to be America’s best selling rock band, got their start like most bands playing the first gig at a teenage dance.

30 years ago, David Lee Roth brought his Eat ‘Em and Smile tour to Portland. Unfortunately, there are no quality live recordings from the Diamond Dave solo era. Fortunately, the band that opened at the Civic Center on November 2, 1986 was Cinderella.
