A Maine “Death With Dignity” Law Could Be on The 2019 Ballot
According to WMTW, the "Death With Dignity" law would give terminally ill Mainers the option of choosing to take life-ending medication. The Wiscasset-based "Death With Dignity" group needs 60,000 valid petition signatures to get it on the ballot.
Patients must:
- be diagnosed with a terminal illness, with less than six months to live
- make repeated requests for the life-ending medication
- get counseling
- go through a waiting period
- must be competent and able to administer the medication themselves
