A New Bar is Opening in the East End in Portland, Maine
One of the things I love most about Portland is the endless options for good food and bar hangouts. We all have our trusted local spots that we flock to on our designated days and our go-to restaurants to meet up with friends.
When you get tired of the usual routine, we also have new places popping up all the time, adding to our inventory of good food, good drinks, and good people.
Another new spot is opening up on the East End and will be open to the public this spring.
The End Bar Opening in Portland, Maine
What was once home to Saint Joe's Restobar will now be The End, a casual and friendly neighborhood bar at 229 Congress Street.
Portland Food Map recently posted on Instagram sharing the news.
The bar is currently under development but the owners share they are hoping for a tentative opening day in May, which is right around the corner.
While you may think the bar’s name, “The End”, is a play on it being on the East End of town, it is actually inspired by the bar being across the street from the Eastern Cemetery, which I think is creative and funny.
The new spot will serve cocktails, canned beer, and whiskey and have a small plate menu including a snack mix, an open-face cheese melt, veggie chili, and a rotating cupcake special. You always gotta have dessert!
This is one of many new places coming to town and I’m excited to welcome them to the neighborhood.
