For nearly a quarter century, the property at the corner of Ocean and Forest avenues in Portland has been occupied by restaurants. For over twenty years, it was home to a Kentucky Fried Chicken location. After that, Thurston's Wicked Good Burgers tried their hand during a burger boom in Portland. It's been nearly a year since Thurston's shut its doors for good and now a new family is hoping to revitalize the dormant restaurant.

According to Portland Food Map, the new restaurant will serve Asian-inspired cuisine, but will also serve double duty as a bakery. There is no timetable for how quickly the restaurant will transform and open, but it isn't expected to take long.

It's unclear if the new restaurant/bakery will compete directly with two other Asian options nearby. Across the street from the new restaurant will be longtime Portland favorite Valley Chinese Cuisine as well as Veranda Asian Market, which has been open for about three years now.
