What a great story this is: An abandoned, week old harbor seal pup rescued from Scarborough Beach in 2017 has been spotted as a healthy adult in New York.

The seal has been hanging out in the inlet of Inwood Hill Park near Columbia University. A tag was spotted on him that confirmed him to be a pup rescued in 2017 by Marine Mammals of Maine and rehabilitated by Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut.

It's clear in this video shot by Bruce Yolton, that this once struggling-to-stay-alive pup, has grown into a happy, healthy adult who enjoys sunning himself on the rocks down on New York.

For Marine Mammals of Maine, it was a little like watching your baby grow up, having rescued him from a certain death after being abandoned at Scarborough Beach.

They were so thrilled, they had to share the news.
