After Six Years, 33 Elmwood in Westbrook Closes Forever in May
It's unforeseen circumstances. Those have popped up a lot in the last couple of years.
33 Elmwood will be closing forever on Sunday, May 8. They do want you to know that any outstanding gift cards will be accepted for take out on their last weekend. They will clarify that with more details as they move forward.
To say 33 Elmwood was a 'bowling alley' is not doing it justice. It was one of the first places that made a family fun place upscale. Not out of reach upscale, but more than a place to bowl and get a frozen pizza. The food was outstanding! And the renovation of the place (using the wood from the old bowling alley) was inspirational.
It's where kids learned how to play bocce ball. I learned that beer helps to lose a whole lot.
The bowling was the best. Your choice of candlepin and big ball. With doors from the old Prides Corner Bowl numbering the lanes. Yes, it appears I'm too late with this love letter. But I let them know when they were the hopping place to be, that I loved it. They have helped the community they were in with charity events. They have been a good neighbor.
I'm super sad that they are closing. Whenever we were stuck and thinking, 'What do you want to do?' 33 Elmwood was always on the list of possibilities. Thank you for the last 6 years of fun and great food. I hope you prosper and let us know where you land.
Remember, if you have gift cards, check their website for updates on the last weekend and getting take out. Bye 33 Elmwood.
