Portland is populated by creative types, artists and musicians are part of the landscape. Last summer I was sitting on Pine Point beach with my friend, Jewel, and there was a guy playing bagpipes on a boat out in the bay! It was amazing and kind of surreal. This Saturday after Kidabaloo, my brood was heading over to Shay's on Monument Square for some lunch, and this guy was ripping out Iron Maiden! Mark stood slack-jawed, I had to drag him into the restaurant! When we wrapped up lunch, we got a private concert.

Check out Ricky, a local born and raised here in Portland, Maine.

For years there was a nice gentleman named Fred who played violin around town, I miss him. Another fave of mine is a guy named Tree, he's from Vermont and was at a First Friday Art Walk playing his didgeridoo with marionettes attached to his feet. Here's a great video by Sam Johnson.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find Tree again.

I hope to see you at Portland's next First Friday Art Walk on May 6th.
