Bostonians Talk Smack About Mainers Over the Auburn Walmart Pole

Well, it's finally happened, Boston knows about the Auburn Walmart Pole.

The friggin' Boston Globe, a respectable newspaper has finally had to pay attention to the Auburn Walmart Pole (AWP). Nothing in the article is new to us. We know it all. We have been monitoring and laughing about this pole for years. However, it is fun to see the furor over this pole from an outsider's point of view.

The pole, as it’s come to be known, stands in a parking lot near the front of a Walmart store in Auburn and as media outlets have continued to chronicle the perplexing number of drivers who cannot seem to avoid it, curiosity around the strange phenomenon has grown exponentially.

So Boston Globey.

But it's the comments at the end of the article that had me giggling. Of course, this is going to get Bostonians to, well...judge us.

One reader made a comparison of the Auburn Walmart Pole to something called 'Storrowing'.

Had to look that up. I knew it had to do with Storrow Drive...thanks Google.

...the common term for when a box truck crashes or gets stuck under a low-clearance bridge on Storrow Drive.

Good to know that Boston Globe readers are also critics of the actual writing. As someone who writes a fair amount for the website, we know these people very well...

But perhaps my favorite is probably the most honest comment of all. We all have thought about this at one time or another. Perhaps even muttered it under our breath. It's nice to see they get it too!
