Can You Help the Maine State Police Solve a 40 Year Old Murder?
While Maine is typically a very safe state, sadly, we do have our fair share of violent crimes. And, sometimes, these crimes go unsolved, despite the efforts of our amazing law enforcement departments.
According to a post on the Maine State Police Facebook page, they are seeking help in solving the murder of a teen that happened in 1984.
Theresa Duran, who went by Terry, was 14 years old when she went missing on July 29th of 1984. She spent the weekend at a friend's house and was supposed to be home on Sunday evening. When she did not return home, her family filed a missing person's report.
On September 2, 1984, her body was found in woods off Wescott Road in Gorham and her death was ruled a homicide.
One person was tried for her murder, but that person was acquitted. Reportedly, there are two other suspects in the murder.
If you have any information about the murder of Terry Duran please contact Maine State Police, Major Crimes Unit – South at 1 Game Farm Road, Gray, ME 04039 or call them at 207-624-7076.
