Celebrate One of Maine’s Most Valuable Crops at the The Gray Wild Blueberry Festival

Did you know that blueberries were the second most valuable crop in Maine behind potatoes? In 2022 19,700 acres of Maine wild blueberries were harvested at a value of $55.5 million. The 485 wild blueberry farmers in Maine produce approximately the weight of 4,500 fully loaded lobster boats. That's a lot of blueberries!

Just as this year's blueberry harvest has begun, there's a Wild Blueberry festival that is celebrating the Maine wild blueberry that will be packed full of fun for the whole family.

The 7th annual Gray Wild Blueberry Festival, happens Saturday, Aug. 12th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Henry Pennell Municipal Complex at 24 Main Street. There will be everything blueberry you can imagine there from delicious blueberry pie to sweet blueberry soda.

There are over 80 booths to check out and over 12 food vendors so there's a lot to see and eat.

There's a kid fun run at 10:30, two blueberry pie-eating contests for both kids and adults at 11:15 and 1:30 and cornhole tournaments and live music throughout the day.

Blacksmithing and chainsaw carving demos. Goats and a live bee hive. A model railroad display, a corn hole tournament, and the list goes on and on. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Admission is free, but if you want to enter various contests, get your caricature done, or enjoy any of the food being served, you'll want to bring some cash with you to pay a small fee.
