It's crazy enough that it's a desert, now they've added a train?

Want to be a conductor on the brand new electric train? It's a pretty cool paid gig!

They had first posted for volunteers, but they are now looking for employees that would be paid. How cool would that be? A conductor in a desert? In Maine?

There are new owners for the iconic and ironic Desert of Maine just down the road from Freeport's most famous business, L.L. Bean. Under new ownership, The Desert of Maine has gone through a ton of upgrading including a new mini golf course, new A-Frame cabins in their campground, and an overhaul of operations. Heading into the 2023 season they have more exciting new exhibits, features, and more cabins for their campground guests!

Hermit's Adventure Golf is quickly becoming a kid's (and adult's) favorite new feature!

And those adorable A-Frame cabins are so inviting!

But you know that it will be the new electric train that can accommodate up to 36 passengers that the kids will beg to be on! The train will pick visitors up and drop them off at a few features across the Desert, and it's a great way to soak up the desert air. The season starts in May, and they need a team of train conductors. No, you don't have to have a special license. Maybe this is the gig for you this summer!

  • Experience driving passenger or commercial vehicles is a plus
  • Great focus and attention while faced with distractions
  • Off-the-charts customer service, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • A valid driver's license is required

Alllllll aboard!
