Safewise.com has released the findings of their annual State of Safety Survey and it showed that Mainers have far less stress about safety than most of the country.

Nationally, 46% of Americans worry about their safety on a daily basis, however only 29% of Mainers report concern about theirs. The safest cities in Maine have some of the lowest crime rates in the entire country.

Some more findings from the 2020 survey regarding life in Maine:

  • 15% of Maine residents have experienced property crime
  • 9% report being victims of violent crime
  • 4% report being affected by a mass shooting
