Full disclosure, the house is a mess!

The Courier-Gazette reported that Janet Heimlich was in Austin, Texas but had a soft spot for Maine after spending summers at Sebago Lake with her family. She had always wanted to move to Maine and live by the water. The house is on Rocklands South End and has water views. Would you like this house?

She put this up on Craigslist. You can have this house for only $1. If no one wants it, she's gonna have it torn down. She actually thought about renovating it, but part of the foundation had caved in and it was too much to handle. It's from 1887 with pine floors that look like they could be the original floors.

Plus a cool red tin roof. It's small at 1400 square feet, but the pictures on Craigslist show that it's got potential. I LOVE wide pine floors!

It's really the land that Janet was after. She fell in love with Rockland and really wanted to see the water. Which she can from this property. It's just under one-tenth of an acre and Rockland assessed the property at $191,000. Any guesses what she paid? $405,000. Yup. Over double the value! Ohhhhh, those pricey water views!

Janet says she loves the South End and that any home she builds will fit right in. So, can you buy this house for a dollar? Sounds like a deal, but a quick Google search finds that it could end up being costly.

The labor cost of moving a house often starts at about $14 per square foot. That doesn't take into account other costs, such as building a new foundation and permitting. The total cost of moving a home ranges from as little as $15,000 all the way to $200,000.

I can just see a Mainer moving this on a Uhaul trailer!
