Forget Wine & Cheese, Pair Beer and Whoopie Pies at South Portland, Maine Brewery

Scientifically speaking they go well together due to the mouthfeel and scientists from the National Institutes of Health state that foods on opposite ends of the spectrum in taste create an enjoyable experience.

That's probably why everyone loves dipping Wendy's french fries in Frostys.

Island Dog Brewing

So, why not take this concept and Maine it up? Island Dog Brewing located on John Roberts Road in South Portland is teaming up with Tin Pan Bakery for a Beer & Whoopie Pie Pairing.

Whoopie pies are arguably the most iconic dessert here in Maine and while the basic Whoopie consists of a chocolate cake with creme in the middle, Tin Pan Bakery will certainly bring the creativity and fun to go with Island Dog Brewing's beer.

What to Expect

The event will provide guests with 4 beers and 4 whoopie pies.

The beers that will be served according to the Facebook event are:

A Beer Called Blue - Maine wild blueberries & wheat malt create the flavor of blueberry pastry
Apriwiezen - Wheat ale fermented on apricots, fruity, with banana and clove notes
Pineapple Habanero - Fermented on Pineapple and Habaneros! Fruity aroma and flavor with HEAT
Smitty's Irish Red - Malt focused with an initial sweetness and a roasted dry finish.

Tickets

There will be two seatings for this fun event taking place on Saturday July 10th. The first at 1 pm and the second at 4 pm.
