We love when the Sea Dogs give out special bobbleheads. Sure, there have been a ton of players who've received the bobblehead treatment over the years. But we really love it when the Sea Dogs give out bobbleheads to NON-baseball players. In 2017 it was the Margaret Chase Smith bobblehead. And last year our friend Tom Caron from NESN got his own bobblehead. This week the Sea Dogs will give out something very cool-the Joan Benoit Samuelson bobblehead!

The first 1,000 fans to enter Hadlock on Wednesday (May 15th) will get the Joan Benoit Samuelson bobblehead. Gates open at 4:30 PM and Joanie is is scheduled to be there and throw out the first pitch.

From the Sea Dogs:

"I am truly honored that the Sea Dogs have commissioned this bobblehead," stated Samuelson. "The Sea Dogs are a wonderful organization that has always had a strong focus on the kids and families within our community. I look forward to joining them at Hadlock Field on May 15th."

"Joan Benoit Samuelson is one of the most decorated and well-known athletes to come from Maine," stated Sea Dogs President & General Manager Geoff Iacuessa. "In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she has been an inspiration to many and has made a tremendous impact in our community. We are honored to recognize her accomplishments with a bobblehead giveaway at the ballpark."

This is the 35th anniversary of Joan winning the first-ever Women's Olympic Marathon.
