Last Friday was a very costly storm for one of Portland's most beloved food trucks.

The storm, which ravaged Portland, unfortunately claimed victim to the Greeks of Peaks food truck. The purveyors of fine Greek food posted these images to show show the utter and sad destruction of the popular truck.

Fortunately nobody was hurt by the damage to the truck, considering it was occupied just minutes before. However, there is a long road ahead to get her back to roadworthy.

Greeks of Peaks has been a staple on the Portland food truck scene for quite some time. When not at the American legion on Peaks Island, the truck can easily be found at catering events, or at breweries, parks, and even at Thompson's Point for shows.

The truck built an incredible following over the years, from its start in 2017, to the long lines you can find at shows and beyond. The news of the damage caused a major level of sadness around town.

However, the future is looking bright for the Greeks of Peaks. Since they posted about a community-led GoFundMe to help with the damage costs, the fans have been out in full-force.

At the time of this article being published, the page had already had its initial goal of $10,000 funded. In fact, the number was nearly $17,000 on last check. The generosity of friends, fans, and locals has simply been extraordinary. It truly speaks to character of this state and the region.

This is just the first step of turning a tragedy into triumph. Here's hoping we see the food truck back soon. And, judging by the incredible community response, this region will be welcoming them back with open arms.
