Here’s the Guy that Booked the First Tom Petty Concert in Maine
Thanks for all your memories and requests this week with the passing of Tom Petty at the age of 66. The Blimp becomes the center of the Rock community in Maine when something heavy like this goes down and we love hearing YOUR stories. Lots of talk about TP shows that happened in the state. WBLM was proud to present Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers three different times and we know the man that brought him here twice.
PETTY IN MAINE
In 2014 at the Cross Insurance Arena;
...at the Augusta Civic Center in 1980.
Here's the tour jacket for that WBLM show. Check out the Blimp:
...and the VERY first time in July of 1978 in Bangor.
Our great friend Andrew Govatsos was the promoter of that (and the Augusta) show and recalls that Tom Petty BLEW AWAY the J Geils Band that night in Bangor. High praise! And look....tickets were only $7. Thanks, Andrew for bringing Petty to Maine!
