I made a reservation for eight people back on September 11th at The Perfect Spell, better known around town as the "Harry Potter Restaurant."

The theme is magic, and there's a lot of reference to the Harry Potter books as well as the Sanderson Sisters, stars of the movie "Hocus Pocus."

We didn't know anyone else who had experienced The Perfect Spell, and we were super curious and excited to check it out.

We waited five months for a reservation because this pop-up restaurant is only open for one year and they are 99% booked. There's no website or phone number for the restaurant and the only way you can score tickets is at eventbrite.com where there are only a few single tickets here and there.

You might have more luck at The Perfect Spell's Facebook page where people are reselling tickets that they can't use. Hey, when you make a reservation five months out, things come up.

I'll share some pictures with you, but I don't want to give too much away. We were a party of 4 kids and 4 adults and we all had a great time. It's dinner theater with acting, dancing, incantations and pretty awesome singing from Magenta. Magic Man was a highlight for me. Nice pipes, lady.

Let's start with the gift shop where the girls were enchanted by all of the magical shwag.

I didn't realize how expensive wands are. Magically imbued exotic wood aint cheap. Speaking of, be prepared to lay out some cash for your experience.

The ticket for the show is $15, dinner and drinks are a separate expense and bring cash to tip the performers. Even though we paid $15 per person for "the show" it was made clear that the staff was working for tips. Cauldrons were collection boxes.

I felt that my fifteen dollars should have paid for the performance, but in the end we tipped generously because everyone was so friendly and had put in a lot of effort. Luckily we had some cash on us, some people around us did not and felt put on the spot.

It was so hard not to touch this giant grimoire, the sign telling me not to touch made it even more tempting. If the eye hadn't been watching me I would have looked up a house cleaning spell.

The witches' pantry was a childhood dream come true for me. I would have loved to have one of these to pretend with when I was a kid. Herbs, potions, candles and magic books filled the shelves.

The drinks with dry ice were a huge hit for the kids as well as the grown ups. This picture makes the restaurant look pretty bright, but it was actually really dark inside and lit with candles that added to the magical atmosphere.

The Perfect Spell is located at 9 Mechanic Street in Freeport and we had no problem parking. There's no kid's menu, which I hope they'll provide for their next pop-up. My meal was piping hot and delicious and the Butter Beer cheesecake was the perfect ending to our visit.

Go with an open mind, suspend your disbelief and enjoy a bit of magic.

The Perfect Spell will close this fall and another themed pop-up restaurant will replace it. I wonder what it will be...suggestions? Comment on our Fan Page.
