Rather than going with the closing trend, these guys are doing the exact opposite and going right up against it.

What's replacing Silver House & Jake's Tavern in Portland, Maine?

After Silver House and later Jake Tavern's closure, there will be a new bar opening up.

It will be called PortTown Public House & Coffee Bar.

When Will Porttown Public House open in Portland, Maine?

These guys are tentatively looking for a soft opening by next week with the possibility of hosting friends and family on October 18 & 19.

They're hopeful to open their doors on October 20, with a grand opening the following week on October 25.

Located right next to a Maine staple, Sea Bags and across the street from Custom House Wharf, this place is right in the heart of the Old Port.

The owners here have been close friends of mine for some time now, so I was able to take a peek at their menu before they launched it.

By the looks of it, there could be a new pizza place in town to rave about.
