You might be reading that headline I wrote and thinking the worst, but no need to panic. It's not like a found a dead body in my basement, but something got in there and didn't survive. At first, I thought it was just a ball of lint on the floor, but when I got closer it appeared it was clearly some sort of very small animal.

I've had my fair share of animals roaming around my house. Deer have lounged in the backyard, a robin built a nest this spring on my propane tank, various critters get caught on my Nest cam in the middle of the night, and now I find this on the basement floor.

It looks like a tiny snake, but it's clearly not a snake. It's wrapped around something hard that it might have found on the basement floor. I picked it up and it fit perfectly in the palm of my hand.

The last time I posted a video of an animal people were very quick to identify it, however, this is the first time I've asked for help with one that was dead. And like last time, I'm sure many people reading this will instantly know what this is...or was. Pat yourself on the back if you do, because you are better at identifying things in nature than I am.

For the record, whatever this was, it was properly disposed of in a Windham Town trash bag to be picked up on Thursday.
