It was just last month when gas prices were continuing to fall heading in to the summer months, but as the saying goes, "nothing lasts forever."

The latest report from GasBuddy.com shows the average price was $2.66 a gallon in Maine, which is up 5 cents per gallon. In New Hampshire the cost of a gallon rose 5.5 cents to $2.59, and in Vermont prices rose slightly, just 1.8 cents a gallon difference to $2.68.

The price increase still isn't as bad as western states, according to GasBuddy, where they're paying over $3.00 a gallon. States like Nevada, California, Utah, Oregon and others pay the most for gas.

GasBuddy.com says escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran are partly to blame for higher oil prices, and declining inventories, and even a potential U.S. China trade deal are contributing to the increase.
