In recent years, Maine has become a foodie paradise.

These days, you can get just about anything imaginable in Maine. Amazing steaks, epic seafood (it is Maine, after all), some of the best Italian food north of Boston's North End, sushi, and traditional Thai food, too.

This is true no matter where in the state you are, from Portland to Madawaska.

Richmond, Maine, has a new Thai eatery

According to an article in the KJ, Sumrub Thai Cookery is now open on Main Street in Richmond.  The restaurant is located in the former Richmond location of Two Maine Guys.

Owners Chonlathis Songprasert and Pavinee Ruangron are not new to the restaurant industry.  They also own Ruby Thailand Cuisine in South Portland.

The move to open the new restaurant had happened very quickly.  The article explains that, back in March, the couple had been traveling through the area.  They were looking for restaurants, but found nothing but "American" cuisine.  Feeling the area needed more options, the couple got to work on opening a new restaurant.

A quick look at their menu shows that they offer many of the standard Thai restaurant offerings, like pad thai, drunken noodles, pad see eew, green curry, yellow curry, and a variety of fried rice dishes.

They also have some unique offerings, like 'invisible' drunken noodles.  This low-carb version of the dish substitutes the noodles for bean sprouts.

The Two Maine Guys Facebook page did share a post showing love for the new restaurant.  They seemed impressed.  The post said, in part:

We really enjoyed the Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Satay!
Go give them a try! We wanted to try other stuff but are trying to do Low Carb.
We will be going back soon! Very fresh

Check out their website for the latest on the restaurant or to place an online order.
