Iconic Maine Law Firm Announces Permanent Closure
Considering how rapidly the world changes, it is rare to see a company stay in business for more than a half century.
It is very rare to see one that has been in business for nearly 90 years.
That is the case with Bangor-based law firm Eaton Peabody.
However, it looks like the iconic law firm, which has grown to become the 6th largest in the state, will soon be closing its doors permanently.
According to an article in the Bangor Daily News, the law firm, which has been around since 1939, has announced it will close permanently on June 30th.
The article explains that a press release detailing the closure says that the plan to close the firm comes after the management took a long look at the evolving conditions of the market and the current demographics of Eaton Peabody.

It sounds as though this decision has been coming for some time. The article notes that a group of eight lawyers had left the law firm in January in order to start Ellsworth's Viridian Law.
Current clients will be transitioned to other area law firms over the next few weeks.
The law firm currently has locations in Bangor, Augusta, and Portland.
