With so many people deciding to purchase nearly everything online, many major retailers have had to make some tough choices.  In some cases, this has led to the closure of some of their less-profitable stores.

Fortunately, that is not the case for all retailers.  In fact, some are actually seeing a benefit from this change in shopping habits.

Many discount retailers are seeing an increase in the amount of money spent in their stores.  While this shift has happened for several reasons, one of the biggest is that people are looking for a bargain on higher-end items.  Why pay full price for clothing, fragrances, or furniture when you can get it a lot cheaper at a discount store?

TJX Companies, Inc. stores like T. J. Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra, and HomeGoods have seen a bump in sales due to this trend.  As a result, it does not look like they are going to be closing any stores.  In fact, in some cases, they are planning to open new locations.

Marshalls in Farmington, Maine

About a year ago, it was hinted that Farmington would be getting a Marshalls store.

According to the KJ, building permits for the store renovations were approved in April 2023, and the store was announced in May of last year.

Despite the slow renovations, the KJ reports that the store is still coming to Farmington.

The permits indicate that the store will be located from 121 to 123 Hannaford Drive in Farmington. It appears that it will occupy the space that Olympia Sports formerly leased.

At this point, there is no word on when the store will open.
