All About Central Maine’s New 24-Hour Dining Option

Back in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, most communities, no matter how small, had at least one eatery that was open 24 hours a day.

Generally, these were a mix of chain coffee shops, diners, and truck stops.

Some of the more notable 24 hour places in Maine included the main Dysart’s location, the Traveler’s Big Stop in Houlton, and the various Denny’s locations.

Now, these businesses have all done away with their 24 hour schedules.  In some cases, these businesses have closed permanently.

There is some good new, though.

Central Maine has a new 24 hour food option.

As of August 2026, the Taco Bell location on Western Avenue in Augusta is open 24 hours a day.

That means you can roll through the restaurant’s drive-thru any time of the day or night to snag a burrito, taco, or an order of nacho fries whenever the mood strikes you.

Keep in mind that there are a few chain restaurant that are open extended hours on weekends.  Domino’s Pizza in Augusta and the new Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen in Augusta, for example.  They are, however, not open 24 hours a day.
