These Are the Top 3 Party Schools in Maine in 2025
For many people, college is the first time that they actually get to make their own decisions.
There is no one telling them when to get up, when to eat, when to study, and when to go to bed. Instead, they make their own decisions about how to conduct themselves.
This is also true for how they spend their Friday and Saturday nights. Okay, let's be real for a minute. When you are in your late teens and early 20s, every night of the week could end up being a party night.

You probably did at least some partying when you were in college, but did you attend one of the state's top party schools?
The Top Party Schools in Maine in 2025
Recently, Niche put out a list of the top party colleges in Maine in 2025. The results were a little surprising.
#5 University of Maine at Presque Isle - Given that this college is located in rural Aroostook County, it should not be a big surprise that it is a major party school. There really is not much else going on in that area.
#4 Colby College - You'll find this world-famous college in the City of Waterville. Notable alumni include former Barclay's CEO Bob Diamon and political analyst Amy Walter. For years, one of the most notable social events at the college was the so-called 'Colby Nights' where, each Thursday, the 21+ students from the college would take over a different bar in the Waterville area.
#3 Bates College - Located in Lewiston, Maine, the college hosts about 1,800 undergraduate students. While the campus is small, it is beautiful. You can learn more about the school from the official Bates website.
#2 Bowdoin College - Much like Bates, Bowdoin is a smaller college. The Brunswick located college has a population of 1,873 undergraduate students. You can learn more about the school from the official Bowdoin website.
#1 University of Maine Orono - It should not be a surprise that the flagship school of the University of Maine system would be the state's top party school. With about 10,000 undergraduate students, the college has the population of a small Maine city. You can learn more about the school HERE.
Despite how much partying takes place at Maine colleges, none of our colleges made the national list of top-party schools. You can see Niche's list of the top party schools in America HERE.
