These Are the Best Locally-Owned Places to Get Delicious Chicken Tenders in Augusta, Maine
Hear me out, okay? I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to chicken tenders.
You see, they just happen to be my favorite food on the face of the earth. They come in right in front of grilled peanut butter and fluff sandwiches. I'm a child.
Anyway, I've put together a list of some of my favorite places in Augusta, Maine, to snag delicious chicken tenders when the craving hits you.
Oh, and if you're wondering, I like mine plain with a side of sweet & sour sauce. Again, I'm a child.
Let's dive in.
Countryside Diner
In no particular order, let me introduce you to Countryside Diner. Formerly Rebecca's Place, Countryside Diner is on Eastern Ave in Augusta and features an extensive menu of home-cooked favorites, including super-tasty chicken tenders.
Stop in and try some today. Literally, do it today.
Two Maine Guys
Next on the list is Two Maine Guys. Their location on Mount Vernon Avenue in Augusta is the epitome of convenience. Talk about centrally located, am I right?
I'm actually pretty new to the fun flavors of 2MG as I just recently had their chicken basket for the first time during our Camp Out Hunger food drive.
Definitely worth a try if you're looking to broaden your tender horizons.
Lisa's Restaurant and Lounge
Okay, if I had to pick a favorite from my own list, Lisa's restaurant would be it.
Just off Bangor Street in Augusta, Lisa's has been serving Central Maine and beyond for decades and is open 365 a year for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
With huge portions and hand-cut fries, there's just something about a chicken tender dinner from Lisa's that just hits differently.
Might I recommend one of their signature cocktails while you wait for your meal?
El Agave's Mexican Restaurant
Yes, I'm including a Mexican restaurant on my list. It's my list, sue me.
Anyway, if you haven't been to El Agave's at the Marketplace @ Augusta, it's worth it even if all you're getting is a Margarita silo. However, it's even more worth it if you're getting their hand-breaded chicken tenders.
I'm pretty sure they're only on the kids' menu, but don't let that hinder you from placing the order.
The Red Barn
This one shouldn't come as a surprise at all. Of course, the literally world-famous Red Barn is on the list.
Laura Benedict and her family have been cooking up the most delicious chicken baskets on planet Earth since 1977.
And the best part isn't even the food, it's how much this heritage establishment has given back to the community over the last (nearly five) decades.
Canton Express
Yes, I'm including a Chinese restaurant on my list. Again, it's my list, sue me in a court of law if you don't like it.
Now, are these considered tenders or fingers? Honestly, who even cares because they're scrumptious?
Canton Express has been the go-to Chinese takeout place in Augusta for years. Yes, I order chicken fingers and fries when I order, and of course a heaping side of duck sauce.
If you haven't tried them yet, do yourself a favor and hop to it.
Augusta Civic Center
This final one is making the list as an honorable mention. Even though the Civic Center isn't hand-breading their own tenders for the concession stands at events, they are still wicked good.
I always love when I'm asked to work an event or party at the Augusta Civic Center because I know it's likely I'm gonna get some tenders and fries. Next time you're at an ACC event and they have concessions open, give them a try!
