When it comes to things to do in Maine, there are always so many options to choose from. From going to the movies to hiking a mountain or pulling up a stool at a craft brewery, there's always something fun for everyone no matter your interests.

However, one of the richest parts of the state's history involves wetting a line and fishing one of Maine's thousands of lakes, ponds and streams. And because there are literally so many options when it comes to where to fish, we thought we'd break it down by region.

Since I am most familiar with the Central Maine area, I figured that would be a good place to start. For years I've spent many afternoons either fishing from the shoreline or from the boat on all of the following bodies of water.

And while I'm certainly not an expert angler in any sense of the term, I figured I would share some of my personal favorite bodies of water to wet a line. However I'm not telling you where the honey-holes are, you'll have to figure that out on your own!

Like I said before, I would encourage you to check out several of these spots if you have the time this summer, though you will have to figure out exactly where each good spot is on your own. Some secrets just can't be shared online.

Also, if you have a lake, pond or stream that you love to hit in the warmer months, and would like to share it with us, send us a message inside our free station app.
