A Maine man has been taken into custody on several charges following an incident where police could allegedly see more than a pound of drugs sitting on the dashboard of the vehicle the suspect was sitting inside.

According to WGME 13, the arrest, which was made on Thursday, comes on the heels of an ongoing investigation by the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. The news station is reporting that the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office arrived at the suspect's home on Thurstons Way in Hudson, Maine, on Thursday, where they found the suspect sitting inside his truck.

As deputies approached the vehicle, they allegedly noticed what appeared to be drugs and cash sitting on the dashboard of the vehicle, WGME reported. Inside the truck, police saw Phillip Herbest, 37, and it became clear that he was in need of immediate medical attention, the news station said.
