5 Maine Mavericks Are Shredding Their Way to Nationals
Maine is gearing up to send a crew of five fearless freeskiers and snowboarders straight into the heart of the Rockies for the national competition in Colorado!
These talented Mainers will show off their skills at the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) championship, according to the Sun Journal. This is all going down on the epic slopes of Copper Mountain!
According to US Ski & Snowboard, Freeskiing is "an action-packed sport combining the high-flying tricks of freestyle skiing with the edge-of-your-seat excitement of snowboarding."
Let's highlight the talented Mainers that will represent us in Colorado from March 29- April 10, according to USASA.
Anson Beaulieu is a 12-year-old shredder from Central Maine Christian Academy in Lewiston. It's his debut at nationals and taking on slope-style and rail jam.
Ashton Rinchich is just nine years old, and a powerhouse who has already clinched Maine Mountain Series championships in slope-style, rail jam, and halfpipe. He's a student at Poland Community School, and this will be his third time at nationals! Last year, he nailed 10th place in both slope-style and halfpipe.
Next in the lineup is 13-year-old Tucker Rinchich from Whitter Middle School. This dude's back for seconds at nationals, hitting up the rail jam scene like nobody's business. Last year, he was the Maine Mountain Series Snowboard Slopestyle champ.
Johnny Bsullak is 16 and a junior at Poland Regional High School. Last year, he snagged 10th in rail jam at his first nationals, and this time, he's doubling down with rail jam and slope-style.
Maxen Chrostek is a 17-year-old junior at Poland Regional High School. He's new to the Maine Mountain Series scene, but is ready to make some serious waves!
This is a huge deal. Take a look at last years USASA National Snowboard and Freeski Championship at Copper Mountain via YouTube.
The aim is to get the best competitors from both the region and the nation to take part, and I think they are going to shred it!
But they need your help!
