Maine Towns With the Longest Eclipse Totality on April 8th
Some folks may think that just a couple of minutes isn’t nearly long enough, but regardless, here’s where we will be in the dark for the longest.
The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse is right around the corner, and folks will be flocking to our Pine Tree State to experience the absolutely unreal phenomenon, but not all of Maine is going to experience the same, well, experience.
The Total Solar Eclipse that will have folks 'from away' traveling to Northern Maine is on April 8th, 2024.
Maine hasn’t seen a Total Solar Eclipse like this since July 20th, 1963, and the next one in our state won’t be until 2079.
Isn’t it crazy how we can just know that Maine won’t be in the path of totality again for another 50 or so years? Sometimes deciding what to have for dinner on the day of can be a struggle.
Cities, towns, and municipalities with the longest totality will most likely have the most tourists coming to visit; it's obvious that the demand is there with the prices for hotels in the areas skyrocketing.
But, with all the towns in Maine that are on the path of totality, some will have a longer time in the dark than others.
According to Eclipse2024.org, these towns in Maine will experience totality for at least two minutes. The following times are estimated in minutes and seconds; for example, 'Houlton - 3:18' means that Houlton will be in totality for an estimated 3 minutes and 18 seconds.
