Maine Maple Sunday Coming Soon – Where to Find a Sugarhouse Near You
We're heading into the home stretch of winter, with spring right around the corner. I don't know about you, but I'm glad winter is beginning to end. With these cold temperatures, my driveway has been like an ice rink. I could charge for ice skating and skate rentals.
But, things will start warming up a bit, just in time for Maine Maple Sunday.
What is Maine Maple Sunday?
The first Maine Maple Sunday was held in March of 1983 and sugarhouses all across Maine opened their doors to the public to see how Maine Maple syrup is made. The process begins with tapping the maple trees to collect sap, then boiling it to thicken, filtering it, and then bottling it. Pure Maine-made maple syrup is the best!

When is Maine Maple Sunday?
According to the Maine Maple Producers Association, Maine Maple Sunday happens all across the state on the fourth Sunday of March, though many maple producers will also be open to the public on Saturday as well. In 2025, Maine Maple Sunday will be on March 22 and 23.
Where Can I Visit a Sugarhouse?
The Maine Maple Producers Association has a list of 107 sugarhouses in Maine from Eagle Lake in Aroostook County to Wells in York County. You likely are near one of these sugarhouses and they will be ready and waiting to see you on Maine Maple Sunday Weekend.
