News Center Maine’s Keith Carson Sets the Record Straight on His Hair

In the broadcast business, your viewers and listeners mean the world to you. They're tuning in to get the local news and weather, and on radio stations, listening to your morning show, while you hope they're a fan of what you do.

I gotta say, I feel for News Center Maine Meteorologist Keith Carson. Sometimes it seems like he can't catch a break when viewers feel the need to comment on him about the strangest things.

The Smedium

This was the first time that viewers came at Carson hard, with complaints about the size of his jacket, saying it was too small, or also known as smedium size. It's not a small or a medium, but it's right in between. A smedium.

The great thing about Keith is that he has a great sense of humor, so six years ago, he addressed his wardrobe by reading emails sent in by viewers. The whole video looked like something out of a crime documentary.

Yeah...people are mean. We get it in radio too, but at least, for the most part, we can't be seen, just heard.

Carson's New Do

With the media controversy long in the past, viewers aimed for something new with Keith Carson this week. Many thought he was wearing a toupee.

On August 12, he addressed the rumors of wearing a toupee before heading over to the weather map for the forecast. Anchors Brian Yokono and Hannah Dineen laughed along as Keith got close to the camera to show off his new hairstyle that is firmly attached to his head, roots and all.

That's some harsh criticism, but you've got to give it to Keith. He rolls with the punches and turns it into something awesome.
