
Breaking: Gunman at Large in North Windham, Maine; Residents Told to Lock Doors, Windows
Emergency alerts went off on smartphones in the Raymond/Windham area of Maine, alerting residents that a gunman was at large in North Windham and urging residents to lock their doors and windows and stay inside.

The emergency alert was sent at approximately 4:25 p.m. Friday, August 15, with the alert at an "extreme."
I live in Windham, and suddenly heard my phone buzzing upstairs while I was working down in the basement, and I had never heard my phone make this particular noise before.
I ran upstairs to find my phone, and there was the alert that a gunman was at large in North Windham and residents should shelter indoors, lock their doors, and report any suspicious behavior to 911.
Last Seen Near Windham/Ramyond Line
The gunman was last seen at the Windham/Raymond line, and police are trying to locate them. Windham Police will have more details for the public when they can share them.
Right now, though, job number one is to find the gunman and bring him into custody. You can bet that will be a giant manhunt to find the gunman. Let's hope they find him without incident.
We'll update this story as we hear more, but for now, if you live in the Windham area, stay inside, lock your doors and windows, and expect another phone alert when the situation has de-escalated.
UPDATE: Windham police said at about 2 p.m. in a press conference that they received several 911 calls reporting the shooting, which happened at the intersection of Route 302 and Landing Road. Bystanders provided aid to the shooting victim, but he did not survive. The gunman was located, but as of 09:51 p.m., no other information has been released about the gunman or the victim.
