Angoor Wine Bar: A Love Story Poured by The Glass in Portland, Maine

Sitting pretty on Fore Street in Portland, Maine is a place created from love, Angoor Wine Bar. And this love story beats the best of any episode of The Bridgertons.

This isn’t just a place to sip wine, it’s a legend poured into each and every glass.  

Recently, when I met co-owners Sangeeta and Rafael, it was extremely clear that their passion goes above and beyond their menu and wine list.

Love, Wine, and a Six-Hour Conversation: The Story Behind Angoor Wine Bar

The journey they took, hand in hand to get where they are, is one of beauty, compassion and love. One day, Sangeeta invited Rafael over to “help hang pictures.” Ladies, you know what I mean. 

But the photos never made it up onto the wall, because once neighbors, sparked a connection and a dream. 

They talked all night and shared a bottle of wine. They fell in love and what came next was years of travel, tasting, and learning together.

They shared a love for wine and food and wanted to fuse their cultures together, and so, they did. Blending Sangeeta’s roots from India and Rafael’s heritage from Puerto Rico, they came up with a concept that hasn’t been offered locally.  

The result is Angoor, a space where two worlds collide into a flavor you’ll come back time and time again for.

They have curated wines, globally inspired meals, and an atmosphere that let’s all know this spot reflects the two.
