If you’ve been to Rye Beach before, you know finding a free parking spot can feel like winning the beach lottery.

That’s why a lot of people are celebrating after the state stepped in and restored most of the free parking spaces along Ocean Boulevard on Route 1A, according to SeaCoast Online.

Earlier this year, drivers were surprised to see dozens of new “No Parking” signs pop up along the road near the beach.

The signs, originally installed by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, eliminated many of the free roadside parking spots that locals and visitors have relied on for years.

Not surprisingly, the decision sparked plenty of frustration and backlash from the community.

Now, in a pretty quick turnaround, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation has removed nearly all of those signs, bringing back most of the free public parking just in time for one of the busiest beach weekends of the summer.

As per the article, the move comes after strong public opposition and effectively overrules the recent push that had limited roadside parking in the area.

Here's Why Everyone is Excited Parking is Back at Rye Beach

Why is everyone so stoked about Rye Beach being more parking friendly?

Oh honey, I’ll tell you why.. This isn’t just any other beach. This beach is beloved because you can hit the sand early, go for a swim or surf, walk the shoreline, check out nearby Odiorne Point State Park for some hiking trails and tide pools.

And if you are hungry, you can grab some food on Route 1A, you’ll find the best seafood spots and ice cream shops. Oh and you can’t miss the Rye Beach sunset, one of the best you’ll see.

And this is why the parking situation is so welcome.

For beachgoers, it’s excellent news. Free parking at the beach is getting harder and harder to find these days, and for families spending the day by the ocean, avoiding expensive parking fees can make a big difference.
